I bought a Huffaker race-prepped bugeye a couple of years ago
(at the same time I bought Redcar from Daren Stone). It is a
complete car except for the engine/gearbox (unfortunately).

I am in the process of getting it prepped for next season and took
the panasport 5" rims (with these old Firestone cantilever slicks)
down to get some Hoosier Street TDs fitted. (I am using these
wheels/tires at the upcoming Healey International
Commemorative race on Redcar).

Boy did they have trouble getting these tires off the wheels. They
did some minor damage to the wheels in the process :-( Nothing
structural, but a pain nonetheless.

Are these tyres still in use? If so, what is the secret in getting them off?
They used two different machine and also tried by hand. These are
the guys who fit race tyres at the track in their mobile tire workshop
so I'd presume they aren't complete incompetents. maybe it is a knack
they never have had cause to learn (I can't recall ever seeing these
tires in use here).

Our historics are also limited to 5" rims, but are also limited to 175/60
spec tyres from an approved list. (the Hoosier 185/60 falls within the
measurement specs of a 175/60 which is why I can use it).

Under different (Marque Sports) we can run slicks and the like but
we can also use 8" rims (and 1275cc-based motors, panhard rods
tele shocks, big flares, etc etc). So we have no need for these tires.

Mike
