"For the pleasure of others without compensation"
Every time I drive the MG, and someone sees it, they receive the pleasure of
seeing it. I have had Collector plates on the MG for 2 years now, and
have YOM plates on the Falcon. Also have the collector car insurance on
them, which has about the same rules as the state does on the license
plates. Unless you are going to drive the Morris in the dead of winter when
there is snow on the ground, you won't have a problem. If you have an
at-fault accident commuting to work in it, well, that might be a different
story.
About the only thing that will get you pulled over when running YOM plates
is that a Pick-up is prohibited from carrying a load in the bed once
collector/YOM plates are installed. I inquired at the DOL office when I got
them, and these were their answers, not mine.
The next cool thing you need to find are old dealer plate frames from the
selling dealer. I found a set for the Falcon and restored them. It is
really cool at a car show to pop on the original CA black plates that were
issued with the car, and the correct plate frames. Just a little extra WOW
factor. I even have a business card from the F&I Manager of the dealer, and
the vinyl envelope with the dealer stamp for the owners manual.

Hi Bill,
This is what I'm going by.... I don't know if they enforce it.
But, with the need for state/city funds - in other words "sock it to the
poor driver" - you never know ;-)
for collectors:-

similarly for restored:-

It's the bit about not being used for regular transportation that bugs me!

I know a lot of people here in Washington with collector plates and have
never herd of any one being pulled over and questioned about the limits of
there license. I have a Bugeye and found a 1960 plate at a swap meet BES
609. This will be my first full summer of driving so I may find out about
the limitations.
