Interesting answer. I am by far anything close to being an economist.
I see what you are saying about inflation. However, tariff's could be
launched at certain segments of the market to keep businesses going in the
States. I cannot see how keeping more manufacturing jobs in the States
would be a bad thing. . . in the long run?
The Harley assistance was short term, just long enough to let the motor
company get back on its feet.
It might still be a good idea to aim at certain segments of our
manufacturing activities, even short term, to hold those jobs in the States.
. my uneducated take on it anyway!
