OK, Howard .....
.....considering the info contained re: state fo tune, I'd go with 1.4" inlet
valves IF you are having the head done as these will result in yet better
cylinder filling matched with the 1.5" rollers.
Larger than stock (1275) exhaust valves do NOT make a difference at this stage
of tune.
Exh. rec:
Medium bore LCB header with 1.75" RC 40 exhaust system or equivalent.
A "coated" header (inside and out) costs more BUT, will last a LOT longer (and
look better/longer in the bargain!:).

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions so far. Let me however, restate my
question another way:
I am currently having a 1275 rebuilt. This is for a street Bugeye driven
spiritedly. We'll probably go .020 or .030 over, Kent 274 cam, 1.5 rockers and
twin HS4 SU's. I am now looking for recommendations on a suitable header. The
exhaust pipe and rear muffler, I'll figure out from there.
Thanks all,
Howard Collins

For a stock street machine, the VB stuff is adequate however, if a "tuned"
pplication, I'd make the investment and go with the performance quality stuff
vailable at APT.
Refer to Vizard's book for correct header sizing (pipe diameter) based on state
f engine tune.

ubject: [midgetsprite] Exhaust Pipe Recommendation Needed
For a 1293 or 1310 rebuild going into a Bugeye, I'm about to order a Pace
etter header and a Monza free flow muffler from VB. I would like to know
hich exhaust pipe to order to go between these two components. There's a
umber of choices in their catalog, so a little help will go a long way before
talk to them.
hank you,
