I shipped a car via boat from Europe years ago... They said they would anchor
it to the deck at each wheel so the motion of the carrier was taken up by the
suspension which is built for that purpose. This still makes perfect sense to
me...
However....
What they did on my Fiat 850 Coupe was to wrap chain tie downs around the
exposed rear axles (that car was rear engine, independent rear suspension). As
a result they bent both rear axles so the car sort of "hopped" down the road
until I could get them replaced. That process also cost me a couple of really
good tires which flat spotted!
Anyway... I'm sure the auto transport company will know what to do...
