Ok, a few days ago, there was a discussion on cleaning the carbs, and many
warnings of DO NOT leave very long. Yesterday, while at a yard sale, I
purchased a 5 gallon bucket of Berryman Chem-Dip "professional" carb
cleaner, for a dollar. This helped me to recall the gallon of Berryman
Chem-Dip B-9 carb cleaner I had in the shed. In that gallon, was an early 1
1/4" SU that I put in there a YEAR ago. The carb was in horrible shape,
there was no way I could get it apart, so I dropped it in the bucket, and
forgot it. I just opened it up, and there was no pitting of the bell, and
the damn thing STILL won't come apart.
Frank, please, any suggestions on getting this thing apart? I've tried a
shot filled plastic mallet on the bell, slight prying in the bell ears (I
don't wish to break them off) and slight prying upwards on the piston, via
the carb throat.
What else might work?
