Hello ,
The first time i pulled the engine it was for an engine
rebuild. the tranny was fine and didn't need to come out, so
why bother?.. i didn't know any better back then maybe?...
as to lining up the engine to the input shaft, i don't remember
that there was anything to it.. that is i recall no frustration
at everything not just going back together.. i was lucky?..
the second time was to change to a 5 speed so it all came out
as a unit.......
as to re-instlling the drive shaft...
i do it from the back and when the yoke gets close to the tranny
i reach down thru the hole for the shifter, pick up the yoke
and put it on the tranny.. crawl back under the car a push it
on the rest of the way.. .. is there more space to do this with
the datsun tranny or are my hands just small enough?
