Hi all -
Among the other problems my Midget had, was completely rotten and rusted
seats. I got a set of seats on eBay. Good deal, but seller noted he only
had 3 of the 4 seat rails. "No problem" I figured, I have a complete set
of rails from the original seats.
A couple months pass, finally I'm ready to install the seats. I grab my
seat rails, and set the driver seat in place, only to find the bolt
holes don't line up!
I measure the base of the old and new seats to find the new ones are
like an inch & a half wider! After the initial shock wears off, I
remember about the seat rails. I grab the three rails that came with the
seats, and find they are quite different. The old, narrow seat frame
uses a rail that has the lip bent OUTSIDE the angle, while the new wider
seat frame uses a rail that has the lip bent INSIDE the angle.
Using the rails that came with the new seats, the bolt holes match up
and the seat fits in nicely. But I only have a one seater now...
I need ONE rail that has the lip bent into the angle iron!! You can see
the rails at http://www.smarc.net/MG/midget/SeatRail/
If you have one I can beg, borrow or buy, please let me know! I'd
rather not bodge the seat mount unless I just have no other choice...
