If, as Treavor says, the other symbol on the Austin crest is a sheaf of wheat, then it represents "The harvest of one's hopes has been secured". So I guess the summary is that the Austin family "Secured the harvest of their hopes through travel and labour." Modern paraphrase, "Made their money selling cars" Seems to fit.
