Simple, the day before you have to leave to get there you go for a ride because
the car isn't running quite right. You call home and say that it broke down and
you're stranded. Tell her that you'll be home as soon as you can make it! Tell
her that you have to go with the car to make sure that it gets fixed
correctly... Then tell her that the part had to be shipped overnight and it
took a couple of days.
Remember to bring flowers when you actually go home!
