Subject: RE: dueling websites?

I think we need to start with some very basic questions, here, such as:
1.) How many of you, out there in cyber space, are truly interested in
attending some sort of 50th Anniversary Celebration?
2.) Where do you hail from, and how far are you willing to travel for such
an event?
3.) What sort of Spridget-related activities are you most interested in
participating in (tours, rallies, autocross, hill climbs, gymkhanas,
concours, vintage racing, others)?
4.) What sort of non-automotive, recreational opportunities would your
spousal unit/offspring/support entourage require, in order to allow you to
participate in Spridget event?
5.) What sort of accommodations would you be interested in (4-star hotel,
no-tell motel, camping, sleep wherever I pass-out)?
6.) How much would you be willing to pay for registration, including
lodging, meals, event registration?

What I am suggesting is that, until an "official" questionnaire, similar to
the above-listed, is answered by sufficient numbers of Spridgeteers, and
from that data it is determined what the majority desires, we may be wasting
our time. And, before we start answering any questions, we need to decide
where (Spridget List, Jim's website, David's website, etc.) to ask them, and
where to collect the data.

I'm gonna resist answering any of the questions I've suggested, until we can
decide, specifically, what needs to be asked, and where will we compile the
data.

So..... what you're saying is that it's already too late to try
for one national level event?? What about the folks who
don't race? Surely we don't want to leave people out, do
we?

Personally, I'd rather see one, supersized national event
at a central location. I do this often with various motorcycle
groups I'm involved with (most recently, the 80th anniversary
of BMW motorcycles - a single event at a single location).

I would think that for something as special as a 50th
anniversary, it would be worth trying to get everyone together
at one location. I don't figure on being around for the 100th.

Just my $.02 worth and probably worth as much...

Cheers!!
Jim
