OK, one more update. Under Windows XP I can open the pdf files on the CD with Acrobat 6. If I copy them to the hard drive (Now why would I do that? For performance, of course, my hdd is significantly faster than my DVD.), it cannot open them. If I examine them with Notepad, they are obviously encoded in some fashion, since I cannot even read the header which should be ascii. David Lieb |
