I don't think a leaking carb is part of this
particular problem however, the carb obviously requires attention as leaking
fuel
in an engine compartment is not a good
thing!
Proceed and complete the major tune-up
after you pull the carb and replace the offending carb's gaskets, etc., Gerry.
Once the tune-up is
completed you'll know what it ISN'T at
least. Then we'll talk...no big whoop.
How old is that mechanical fuel pump,
anyway...springs/diagphragms wear out
eventually and don't pump as efficiently
and most especially under load.
