Thanks for all of the suggestions! It isn't any of my cars, btw.
I happen to have my 65 upside down at the moment, front suspension still
on. I can see the plate for the inner-most shock bolt behind the spring.
Are the other 2 bolts similarly fixed with an iron plate welded and tapped?
Is it located under the rubber rebound bumper? The most appealing to my
customer would be the longer correct bolts and nuts. He says it will be
somewhat temporary. I just don't know the accessibility of the plate(s).
Oh, and the reason drilling the shock holes out to 1/2" might be
problematic is that the casting is very thin on the outer rear most bolt
hole. That's why there's a steel sleeve in that spot.
