Hello spridgets,
i was about to take a drive up the freeway yesterday, about 90
mile, the longest sustained "high speed" run that i have EVER
taken in the red thing. JUST before i was to leave, the new
FLAMETHROWER 3.0 ohm coil arrived that i had been awaiting so
that i could install the PERTRONIX ignition that i've had
sitting here for a week..... well, i took the run, and by my
calculations, 5000 rpm should have been 70 mph (assuming a top
speed of 84 @ 6000 rpm-- my speedo doesn't work right-- the
nut in the tranny still being loose)...but i timed myself thru
the mileposts, and 5000 rpm was EXACTLY 60 mph...
this morning i installed the new parts and went for a
short run down the freeway.. NOW 5000 rpm is closer to
70 mph, as it should be. .. the tach got MORE accurate
with PERTRONIX.. for what its worth.
