I bought a Midget where it was towed, d/shaft in place. The tranny must
have jumped into gear, it exploded and took out the rear engine plate
with it. Now the front end of the d/shaft was whirling around and took
out the transmission tunnel. what a mess!
It only takes 5 minutes to remove the 4 bolts on the shaft. Even if you
leave it in the trans, just wire it up. But disconnect it from the rear
if you tow it with the rear wheels on the road.
5 minutes may save you undo body work, a new tranny, and serious engine
work.
