The story on the Expeditions from the service department at my dealership.
We replace the frame on an Expedition about 1 per month. The "new" thing
in
mfg. auto truck frames is "hydroforming" where the frames of these vehicles
are bent from the inside and out at the same time. They pressurize the
frames with a hydraulic oil, then bend them to shape. This makes them
lighter and stiffer, however there is NO way to fix them if they are
damaged
in a collision. So they lift off the body, remove all the parts, and put
in
a new frame. Don't think it is a Ford problem only, I've already seen them
do the same thing next door at our Chevy dealership to two Trailblazers, a
Tahoe, and several Silverados...
