I also agree! I have been building my own computers for years and just upgraded
my brother from a 166 Mhz, once state of the art. He paid 1500.00 for this
computer that I will
possibly give to some deserving relative for her kids. His upgrade cost??
610.00!

He now has a 1.2 gig pentium, DVD/CD burner, just a normal CD drive, 512 K ram,
Hot video card etc. Spent the day
tuning it up and teaching him the fine points of having all this power. I did
use
his old hard drive (replaced last year), monitor, mouse, cdrom drive,3.5 floppy
and speakers. I do this for a lot of folks and is my paying hobby too.
I used to be a phone tech for a large internet provider and can tell you that a
lot of the techs are just plain stupid. Techs jobs are sometimes based on calls
per hour and number of calls is how the tech center gets paid. Outsourcing of
tech support is cheaper but kills actual service.
Imagine if your car were as reliable as your computer (Wink wink) and you
had
to call a tech center everytime something went wrong!
