Do the non-roller 1.5s wear out things faster? Or do they just lose a hp or
two? I'm looking at the price difference, and the jump from $250 to over
$500 seems rather steep for one or two more hp.

Roller rockers rob less HP due to reduced friction.
The higher the ratio the more friction you will have with conventional
rockers, so the more advantage there is to rollers at higher ratios.
