Somewhere in your documentation, there has got to be information about
backing up your hard drive to another media. This means you back up your
hard drive with the Windows 95 system before installing the new software for
Win ME. That way, if anything at all goes wrong, you can at least get back
to where you were yesterday. I don't know the details for your system (we're
on MacIntoshes), but backing up is standard practice on all computers. It
really should be done every month or two for safety; however, you'll almost
never need the backup. If you can't get help anywhere else, your computer
store should be able to tell you how to do it.
Backing up is sort of like having a soft top that you almost never use.
