Back up any / all files that you don't have the original discs for.
No need to back up programme files where you have the original on disk
for re-loading if necessary, but make back-ups of everything else that
you would be annoyed to loose!
Actually, if the up-grade goes as it should, only the operating system
should change, everything else (i.e other programmes and files) should
remain unaltered.
You may want to check the hard drive capacity - Windows ME uses a good
deal more space than W95
