Harmonic Balancer

I was looking at the balancer for timing marks and all I find is a dimple 
on the face of the pulley. I am guessing that this is it. Haynes refers to 
a notch on the outer edge of the pulley, so maybe I have a different H.B. 
than what came with the engine.
  I'll sort that out later, but I wondered if anyone has ever indexed the 
Balancer so the timing can be read from above.

Any thoughts?
