Brad -

I was reading Vizard the other night and ran across the place where he 
discusses putting a fin in the manifold to prevent swirling.  He thought 
that it resulted in compressional condensation of the fuel droplets on the 
manifold walls.  Thus, reducing the fuel vapor getting into the engine.  FWIW.
