The problem that I was referring to may, or may not, be the same as
Bill's problem.
Specifically my 1500 used to be very difficult to accelerate smoothly
from tickover. I got into the habit of thumping my knee with my fist
to get the accelerator to move. Once beyond idle it was fine. I
presumed it was a cable or linkage problem but eventually discovered
that it was the butterfly valves simply closing up too tight and
being held shut by the inlet manifold vacuum. Would only apply to
SUs.
Bill, just try turning those idle adjusting screws up a bit. Easy to
try and see if it works for you.
