A trunk can be found on the front of an elephant or the back of a NA car.

A boot is what we put on our foot.  A bonnet is a type of hat.  A soft top
is ... < never mind >.  A hood goes over the engine.

You know ... Haynes has an English to American glossary !!!  :)
