My current rear end is howling quite loudly at speeds above 30mph so
I thought that I would put in the spare I got off my last parts car. I
thought I would just switch the pumpkin assembly to avoid having to
do a complete swap out, and was wondering how to check the clearances
to see if its set up right or if needed to adjust it back into spec.
What are the required clearances, and how hard is it to adjust?

Let's just say I switched one from one side to the other and got almost
a whole week out of it. This was on my A40, not an overly powerful car.
The replacment axle also snapped a few months later. It probably came
off the other side of the parts car and I put it on the "wrong" side.
I also snapped one on my Bugeye last summer very shortly after changing
the diff. I did not know note which axle came out of which side and just
put them back according to what I grabbed first.
