Frank,
Hotter/Colder plugs refer to heat range and deals with heat dissipation;
having virtually nothing to do with cold starts.
Check the spark, ensure good quantity and color.
Check wetness (or dryness) of plugs after attempting to start... is there
sufficient fuel for starting.
Perhaps the 1.75" is a bit large to create enough suction to pull atomized
fuel into the cylinders.
How's the compression?
Will it start if you use the palm of your hand as a choke?
