This is probably too late. 3 9/16" wrench size bolts mount the shock.
The
large 7/8" wrench size "bolt" is actually the valve mechanism. You can
refill the shock there, but you risk allowing air into the shock and
requiring bleeding. The actual "topping up" filler hole is the small 1/4"
Whitworth (14mm works) wrench-size plug that is located on the turret
shaped deal on the wheel side of the shock. The plug faces rear-ward. Fill
this to the bottom of the threads using an oilcan and you will be allowing
sufficient room for expansion and you will not risk infusing air into the
shock. If the shock is empty, you'll need to add oil at both the valve and
the filler... best done on the bench because of the bleeding operation.
