'Tis indeed a strange place -- we tend to enjoy the application of
'Yankee Ingenuity' <G>; or to quote my grandpa, "The proper tool is one
that works."  Why buy a tool that you can make?  And (unless originality
conscious) why use an unusual part, when a more convenient one exists?  I
replaced mine with the more convenient plugs to save time and wear and
tear on my nerves (and possibly future owners, but who cares about them,
eh?).

Of course, being in the 'New World' requires that one be arrogant enough
to believe that anything they do (whether to an LBC or not) is an
improvement.  Hmmmm, you know, that might explain some of those DPO
bodges we've seen.....
