Hi all, my name is Bill Hunt also known as "Herby". I've also been
lurking on the list for awhile soaking up all the great information. I
have a '64 MK II stripped of most "mechanicals" sitting in the garage.
I've had my Mk II for going on 10 years now and am still at the
stripping paint and cleaning/repairing rust stage. There are so many
other distractions. I'm also telling myself, I will get it done! Just
takes determination. It is really my first LBC, although I did have (for
about 5 months) a '62 Sprite with an Olds 215 V8, PG (powerglide) and
narrowed '57 Chevy rear. It was a major resto project that I just didn't
have time for then. Sold it for what I paid for it to a father and his
son who had a repair shop. I wonder if they ever got it running?
By the way, anybody out there got any great ideas on stripping multi
coats of paint, preferably something non-toxic or at least mildly toxic.

We're out here lurking <g> soaking up very valuable info. Some
of us
(me for one) may be slighty embarassed by the glacial speed of
our
restoration efforts. I drove my Bugeye into the garage in
January of
1970 and took it all apart. I'm not finished putting it back
together
yet. College, marriage, kids, jobs, houses, motorcycles, other
cars,
etc. have all taken their toll as far as time and finances go.
I'm
working on the car - really! Progress is very slow, but it will
get
done.
