I guess I'm a semi-lurker, having put in my 2 cents once in a while.
But I depend on the talk since spridgets seem to be pretty rare
around mid-Michigan. I bought a 74 burgundy Midget (orig. orange)
last May in quite good condition for $2400 and immediately put in
about a grand for a new front end and brakes. Beyond that haven't
had much trouble or opportunity for tinkering. I figure being able
to drive all summer was worth the money. Needs a new soft top (I
never know whether to call it a bonnet or hood) and maybe new
carpeting, though it's not too rough. Also have a wish list of
various parts, such as a right-hand mirror, lighter, gas float, etc.
My wife has come to love it--and actually drove it once, as I
silently cringed.
I put off storing it for the winter a bit too long, I'm afraid, and
the Li'l Guy is under a foot of snow in the driveway. As soon as the
weather breaks a bit, into the garage a few blocks away. I hope he
forgives me. At least he's not plowing through salt and such.
Thanks to all of you for the good advice and sense of community.
Happy Spridget New Year!
