Dan,
I just went through this with the restoration shop about the undercoating
in the wheel wells. Before I had the car dipped, we carefully checked out how
much undercoating was there. I also interviewed a few Gold Level Bugeye
winners and all seem to agree with what we found. In the front wheel well the
undercoating was spayed on the vertical footwell panel only, with a little
overspray and the rear arch was covered most of it's entire length. The
coating was fairly thick and bumpy. It was coated BEFORE painting the same
color as the rest of the tub. Your windshield pillars should have rounded
corners at the top and they were actually painted a silver color, not unsimilar
to the wheels. If you look in the inside of the pillar where the windshield
has covered it you may find some of the original color for a match. Obviously,
this paint didn't last too long as most of these pillars look like a matte
aluminum color or have been polished by POs that think this looks better.
