Hi Frank,
You know I've never realized it but you are right about the nut
spliter.  I have one that I bought ten years ago and haven't ever used
it again.  I believe it scares them nuts off.  
And as to your Jag, be thankful you have the 6 and not the 12
cyclinder.   I can't even see the radiator on mine, never the less the
alternator.  I do believe it has one some where.  Have you ever noticed
that any normal job takes 4 times longer on the jag.  I had to replace
the valve cover gasket on my wife's and it took all day.  Then it took
two weeks to figure out why she wouldn't start.  I'm afriad if I started
on the alternator, my air conditioning would quit.  Oops too late, maybe
that is what's wrong with my A/C, who would have thoght the alternator
would cause it.
