Hi Jon,

I've used Hammerite-like paint as recently as last summer.  I had similar
experiences with separation, which only makes sense, because the hammer
texture is the result of chemica;s which will not join in an emulsion, kind
of like water and oil.  Best thing is to mix thoroughly right before you
paint.

As far as the dryinbg time, I'd suspect that's a function of air
temperature.  Isn't it kind of cold to be painting where you are?  I find
some of my paint clumping here in Los Angeles, and our temps are in the 50s
and 60s.
