There are specific regulations pertaining to single, split, and multi-piece
rims or wheels used on vehicles such as forklifts, industrial tractors,
trucks, tractors, trailers, busses, and off-road machines, and are commonly
used today. These regulations were promulgated by the Federal Highway
Administration (FHWA), but are modified (to be more stringent) and enforced
by your state DOT. Exception: Automobile or light truck tires ("LT") used
on light pickups and vans utilizing multiple piece rims or wheels when a
hold-down cone type tire inflation system is used in accordance with the
recommendations of the tire manufacturer. There may be specific state DOT
provisions addressing your vintage wheels, but I'm doubtful.

As I understand it, it was about 15 years ago that those were banned by DOT.
And
now that DOT can stop ANY vehicle on the road, now, if a DOT guy notices
those
wheels on your truck, he can prevent you from driving it until new wheels
are
installed.
