When airing up split rim tires, either get a tire cage or take to a shop that 
specializes in truck tires.  All of our dump trucks used these split rims, we 
never had a problem, but we always had our tire work done in a shop that was 
equipped to handle the split rims.  All real tire shops have this capability. 
 Those rings have been known to remove a head in a hurry.
