To the group,

I am still compiling compatibility information regarding
clutch/transmission combinations for 2 engines---948 Morris Minor and
Sprite Big Main Bearing (10CC ID No.) 1100 engines.

        1) Can I assume that the ONLY reason for the thicker throwout
bearing on the 1100 is because of the thicker rear engine plate?

        2) Does anybody know if the measurement from rear ENGINE face (not
rear plate) to the throwout bearing face is the same for these 2, when
assembled in stock form?

        3) Does anybody know what this dimension is; for both, if same; or
for either, if different?

        4) Can a competent clutch shop drill and tap a flywheel for an
alternative clutch cover accurately enough to retain its balance?

        5) Can a flywheel be safely redrilled to fit a larger rear crank
flange and bolt circle? Or will this compromise its strength?

Any answers anybody might have for even just 1 of these questions
would be more than welcome.

Cheers,
David Kernberger
