Some of you may remember my message on the 7th August 1999 about
Christine Healey, the sacked Registrar of the MSCC.

Further to that, about the article in "Miscellany", I have been told
that the Judgement from the employment tribunal will be available in 2-3
weeks. I will stick it on a website and make it available by e-mail as
soon as possible.

In the meantime, all members of the MSCC should be aware that Christine
was awarded;
GBP 12,000 in damages, the maximum allowed at the time AND
GBP 5,000 in wrongly withheld salary

        i.e. GBP17,000 (Great British Pounds)

This will come from YOUR SUBSCRIPTIONS! (and the company reserves).
Assuming there are about 4000 members, this means that we are all
contributing GBP4.25 each towards just the awards. This makes the
GBP1.00 reduction in this year's subs look pretty pathetic!

I understand that a question of costs and awards was raised at the NCM,
asking if a figure of GBP30,000 would cover them all. It wasn't denied,
so presumably it's more. Given that Richard Lovatt was given GBP4000 in
settlement and PPC, the personnel consultancy advising the club on the
departure of both Richard and Christine, has received between GBP2-5000
for it's professional advice, (I cannot guess on the solicitors bills,
but Christine's were GBP7,000); GBP30k, or about GBP7.50 per member is
probably an underestimate.

If the Club would like to comment or correct any errors in the above, I
would be happy to provide equal prominence to the correction or
explanations. If you are a member of the club, I would be grateful if
you could circulate this message to other members, together with any
comments or corrections that may follow. An open debate is long overdue.
