I did have.
When my '65 MGB got rear ended on the freeway commute, I bought a used
'99 Miata.
It got rear ended and totalled about two weeks later. I'm now driving a
slightly bigger car that cost a LOT less money. I think of it as my
"throw down" commuting car.
The motor and trans from the Miata are going to live again in one of my
MGAs though.
