I just bought a used set of painted wire wheels for my
1971 MGB, and they have a BRAND NEW set of Michelin
MXV's on them. The size is 175/R-14.
The Dunlops on my current chrome wires are 185/70R-14
Dunlops.
I am assuming that the lack of an aspect ratio
designation on the Michelins means they are roughly
equivalent to an 80-series tire, correct? If so, then
the overall diameter of the Michelins is slightly less
than an inch greater than the diameter of the Dunlops.
Something like 25.02" vs. 24.20".
Is anyone running 175R-14's on their MGB? I hate to
get rid of these tires, because they have less than 30
miles on them. Absolutely perfect. Am I going to
have anything irritating, like rubbing the rear fender
well or an ugly "lifted" look?
Ordinarily I'd just slap them on and try, but the car
is torn apart right now for some other work and I
thought I'd try to save a bit of time if I could...
Thanks in advance,
=====
