Removal of transmission from underneath? (MGB)

Who remember this thread?

I can't recall who was doing this, but I do remember that he got the
transmission out from the bottom of the car, without removing the engine.  I
don't recall seeing that it ever got back in.  I was anxiously awaiting further
installments.  In fact I was thinking about an office pool.  Will it go in, or
won't it?  So what happened?
