>Adrian, what happens when you hit 3000rpm, will it go over 3000 and
sputter or what? The carb cleaner you put in will take at least a full
tank of gas to clear anything out. Did you do any work on the car before
this problem started?

Art,
Thanks for post. When it gets to 3000rpm it just stays there, despite m=
e
pushing further on the gas pedal. I have to ease off the gas when it
reaches 3000rpm because I get terrible back-firing in the exhaust system =
-
feels like it's right under where I'm sitting (no jokes please!!)
When I ease off the car runs just fine. If I floor the gas pedal it stil=
l
won't go over 3000rpm.
This started when I was on the way back from the big city doing Warp 1. =
Which is about 75 -80 mph in this Midget - so I'm thinking that the posts=
suggesting a slipped timing chain may be a distinct possibility.
I'm afraid I'm always doing something on the damn thing. Last thing was
taking out the radiator for a boil-out job (that fixed my over-heating
problem nicely) Yeah, I know I should of replaced the chain then and in=
fact I was half-thinking about it, but I didn't have a pulley-puller so I=
didn't bother. Arrrrrgh.
Onward and Upward, Adrian
