After what seems like an eternity, the MGC/GT is holding its water
again.
In the last installment, the car tired of giving me clues as to the
source of its vibration and just let the radiator fan explode.
The radiator man offered to fix rather than recore the radiator. I was
surprised to find the correct plastic radiator fan at Vicky British
(their very last one). I went ahead and had the water pump rebuilt after
having to dance with the crooked fan to the end.
Last night everything was cleaned and painted. Tonight everything was
put back together. The car fired in two reveloutions and settled into
its lumpy idle with no new surprises. Yipee!
I put away the tools, cleaned up my hands, hitched up my pants, and
hopped in for a test run. Cars jockeyed out of the drive, lights on,
gauge check all normal, grab the shifter, stab the cluth --- and it
collapses to the floor in a rush.
Shut down motor. Open hood. Master completely empty. Take a peak
underneath. The slave rubber end cap is oozing blackish fluid.
Sigh.
