Hi Dave, Girling shocks were used all around on early TDs. Later TDs
generally used Armstrong shocks but some cars were supplied with Girlings
as late as 53. I know an original, one owner, 53 TD, chassis number
TD-25621, here in Toronto that
was equipped with Girling shocks all a round from new . I also have basket
case 51 and 52 TDs with Girlings all around.
I think your car probably had Girlings as three of four shocks are Girling.
I think most people would agree that the earlier Girling cast iron shocks
are better than the aluminum Armstrongs.
