I've always remembered the color to be the dark red.

As far as US suppliers, you could try Moss. They probably supply it for
T-types. However, I always use one of the four below:

I'm in need of a supplier of piping or cording for the exterior of my PA.  
Would prefer a US supplier due to exchange rate/transportation charges.
 
Also, what is correct color of cording for a duotone red (Carmine/Saratoga)

paint scheme. Dark or Light?
