Crown wheel & Pinion : 7/37

I have been working on a friend's PA M.G. It has been fitted with a 7/37 CWP
which is not the original ratio and I'm interested in learning from whence
it came. There are no obvious markings on the differential.

Please advise if you have any thoughts, thanks.
