On the J2 we've had them mounted both ways at different times. Either one
works, but the rain drips into your lap sooner if you mount to the
dashboard, so I prefer to mount to the scuttle. However if you do this the
aero screens foul the windscreen on a J2 (and probably on a P-type too). We
havn't had the windscreen fitted for a lot of years so it doesn't really
matter to us.
