If you can find a cutout that's even vaguely similar to the right one, that
would be a better option than RF95 or similar later regulator, especially as
you only need the cutout section, not the voltage controller. I've seen a
few such cutouts around the swapmeets in Sydney, maybe you'll find something
similar local to you.

Not the perfect solution, but in the last resort better than using the RF95.
The cutout is very visible as soon as the J2 bonnet is opened.

I agree with Pip Bucknell that there is no functional need to use other than
the 3-brush system as original. We've run our J2 on 3-brush since 1966. The
limitation on the system is the low permissible power output of the
unventilated dynamo, not the control system.
