Was it N-type springs or something special.<

Hi Pip -

Hard to say but I doubt it - at the rear anyway - probably
a "special" and might have varied from car to car even from
the racing department.

The springs for example for the C and J4 were a lot stiffer
than the "standard" contemporary J2 rear springs - though
later the front C J4 spring was later standard on the PA PB
and TA.

Id go for a stiff spring at the rear say to 300 lb inch and
650 lb flat and say 350 and 520 at the front - this is close
to the J4 so you could even stiffen up the front more due to
the slightly extra engine weight.

The N springs were Heavier than this at front and
MUCH Lighter at the rear very soft in fact.

Regards

Clive.
