I am having my J2 flywheel lightened as per suggestion in Howell's
"A practical Guide to the Restoration of the J Type MG Midget"
page 51.

Some material is removed form the OD and the inside is machined
out to 8 & 3/4 inches by 1 & 1/2 inches deep. I assume I will need to
make up 1/2 inch longer clutch guide pins? Can't locate where I
stored the original pins at this moment for comparison.

The idea behind flywheel lightening is to compensate for the greater
rotating mass of a billet crankshaft and thus keep the engine snappy
and responsive. Howell's dimensions may be assuming the use of a
Phoenix crank which is heavier than my flat billet type. Any ideas on
a final weight for this flywheel? Will heavier 4340 billet con rods effect
the equation?
